Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving was nice and quite this year.  My brother Andrew, my sister Ruth and her husband and kids joined us for dinner.  As you can see Hannah's favorite was the rolls followed by the turkey and green beans.

 I have started having the kids sit in a laundry basket for scriptures and other family things were they need to sit still for a bit.  The rule is, if they can stay there till we are done then they get a treat.  It works pretty well.  I am glad because scripture time was becoming to big of a hassle and was wondering how I was going to continue do it without loosing it.

 Hannah and Uncle Andrew didn't get along at all.  Can you tell. 

 Well with all the snow, we were able to go out sledding this weekend.  Last year Elijah could have gone sledding all day long.  However he went down 3 times and decided that he had had enough.  But then he wanted us to pull him around on the sled.  Which we did because the effort of getting them out of all the layers of clothes again so soon after putting them on was not some thing I was looking forward to again.  Hannah loved going down the first time and the second time not so much.

They both loved running around or I really should say walking around because the snow went up to their knees.  They did that for about 30 min.  and then after Hannah face planted into the snow we all headed home. 

Look carefully, because he is airborne.  Why is it that kids think that the clean clothes, the ones that you have spent all day washing and getting ready to put away, are meant to jump into.  He is jumping off the bed in to the clean clothes that I was about to put away.

Elijah's 4th Birthday

My Little Man is 4 years old today.  Yesterday we took the chance to celebrate with family.  We had Ruth and her family and Zach and his family.  Elijah was so excited for it to finally be his birthday.  For months and months any time he got anything he would say "For my birthday.  Thank you."  "No, but it is for you." is my usual reply.  So last night as you can tell by is face he was extremely excited.

 Zach and Shannon got him a puzzle, little army soilders, and some play dough. 

Ruth and John got him a Thomas the train tooth brush (electric)  he brushed his teeth for like 5 minutes last night.  Don't worry it wont become a habit. 

Watson grandparents got him a cars table and chairs and Haley grandparents got him the car in the picture above. 

 Elijah wanted a Car cake.  So that is what I attempted to make.  The car isn't as red because I ran out of food coloring and decided after several trips to the store already that he could deal with the off color.  It just would get eaten anyway.  He loved the cake,  He had been asking for it for the last two weeks.  "Mom you make my car cake yet."  The phrase got old.  By the time I got it made I was ready to not make it just because.

So a couple months ago my mom told me about a car bed up the street that was for sale.  So I hopped in the car and drove over their.  By the time I got their the people selling it were giving it away for free.  So I bought this beat up looking blue bed.  It had pieces that were broken.  BUT IT WAS FREE.  Who can beat free.  So with some help from every one, between watching the kids, help with the wood work and a lot of love (because I did this for the kiddo) I was able to get it painted and look some what like Lighting McQueen. 

We didn't put it together yesterday because we ran out of time, so today the moment he woke up he started pestering us to put it together.  So after church, and some naps we got it together.  He was so excited that he said he was tired and ready for bed.  I didn't think so, it was only 6 in the evening.  Not happening unless Dad was willing to get up early.  Adam didn't want to so by the time it was time for bed he had no desire and cried because he didn't want to sleep.  Normal kid.

So this weekend my mom and I were able to attend the Time Out For Women convention that is put on by Deseret Book every year.  It was amazing.  I wish we could walk away from every meeting feeling renewed and energized again like we do with meeting like yesterday and the day before, with Conference.  I know if I could really listen at church that those moments would happen much more often.  But because I do have children and Love being a mother I am so grateful for those events that let me escape all worldly things.  A place that I can really focus on understanding the Gospel more, and especially learning from others. Their joys, their hopes, their understanding, their Love, and their guidance in bring us ever closure to our Heavenly Father.  I am so amazed of the blessing of have Elijah and Hannah in my life that I often think that I would be so lost with out them.  They teach me so much yet they are so small.  I have a difficult doing this in front of people because I get so nervous that I don't talk right and people will have a hard time understanding me but right her right know I want all those that read this LDS or none LDS that Jesus Christ is my Savior,  He is here with us every day.  He will guide us in all that we should if we will let him in.  If we will follow all his examples and strive to do our best he will be with us.  This gosple is true, President Monson is the living prophet that guide us today.  The Book of Mormon is true and will bring closer to Christ.  I know that through the Gospel teachings we will learn and grow and will then be able to teach our children to come closer to him.  I pray that I am doing what I need to do so that Elijah and Hannah will feel that they know they can pray and find these things out for them selves when the time is right.  I say that in The name of Jesus Christ Amen.

 Today I was racking up some leaves before the garbage trucks came to pick up our three different types of garbage.  We get a brown can for yard waste, blue for recycle, and green for every thing else.  And we don't get a chose about if we want it or not.  Isn't that nice.  Anyway, the kids decided to help.  See, don't they look helpful?

This is actually Hannah's first time getting to play in the leaves.  Last year she didn't like the feel of grass let alone leaves.  She Loved it.

So, I as any other regular mother I HAD to step away to use the bathroom.  Usually that might be a huge mistake when there is lots of noise or even worse when there is no noise.  You sit there wondering what could they possibly being doing in their.  Or you might be thinking of these possibilities. House trashed, kids screaming, or wrecking havoc on the computer, purse now all over the floor, or some other catastrophe. After wards thinking was going to the bathroom really that important.  I am sure I could have held it till they went to bed.    

Luckily after thinking these things, I calmly open the door, take a deep breath and get ready to start tackling kids.  But to my great surprise there are the two kids sitting in front of the t.v. together watching Blues clues, each drinking a shack.  So in the time I was in the bathroom Elijah had started a movie, got them each a shack and opened it for them, and gotten straws to put in them.  All of this with out making a mess in the kitchen.  As you can see after telling them for 257th time to pick up the toys I had given up till bed time.  So the living room was all ready a mess and did not happen while in the bathroom.

So this is probly more then any one really wanted to hear but you made it through. 

Just Her Luck!

So we had Hannah's eye appointment on Tuesday and found out that there NORMAL.  So She is just lucky in that she may end up with more bumps, bruises, stitches, and later in life I am betting broken bones.  Not that that is lucky.  But it sounds better then calling her clumsy.  Some may say I should watch her more close.  True if I don't want to accomplish anything during the day.  But since when have I really cared what other none parent people thought.  I don't I just thought i would bring it up.  Yea, just talking for the heck of it.  Oh well I can hope she gets a bit more stable on her feet as she gets older.  I was thinking about it and I probably just comparing to Elijah  to much.  Once he started walking he was a pro at walking, climbing, running, and etc.  And I said I would never do that.  What was I thinking.  Anyway I will let you go.

Halloween 2010

 Halloween 2010 was awesome for our family.
We started out by spending the day at Wheeler Farm.  Ruth and her kids Glen and Benjamin joined us in the fun.  Though very lame for adult, the kids enjoyed a hay maze, pumpkin patch, and a wagon ride.

 Hannah loved to pick the pumpkins up and move them to a different spot.  Elijah said we had some at home so refused to pick one out, so Daddy did it for him.

 Elijah being very protective and hold sister so she didn't fall out of the stroller.  She on other hand didn't think she needed it.  To think of it, she really didn't.

 So the first picture is what Elijah was doing before I looked away to check on Hannah.  Well when I turned around to watch him a again he was hold a peice of wood that was almost as tall as him about 4 inch or so wide, and drawing on the ground.  The first thing that popped into my head was "How to train your dragon."  You know the part were Hiccup is drawing the dragon and then Toothless takes a tree and starts drawing with it.  What is even funnier, is when I asked Elijah what he was drawing he said a Dragon.  Daddy helped with the wings.  So Elijah was Hiccup for Halloween and Hannah was going to be a kitty, but when I open her costume, half of it was gone.  There was no tail or the kitty ears.  So we decided she was a cute little 70's dancer.  She was cute though.  The kids came out with a good amount of treats.  Good thing that we didn't let them make a second round at the Ward Truck or Treat. It was raining by the time the ward activity rolled around so every thing was inside.  Glad it didn't rain earlier in the day.
